OWA swim team has an open enrollment policy: new swimmers can join at any time.

Swimmers and their parents / guardians are welcome to visit the team during any of our weekday and weekend practices. Come and watch the practice, meet other parents, coaches and the team administrator, practice with us or just watch and ask questions.

The best way to see if OWA is right for you is to follow these few steps:

• First, give us a call, email us or just stop by.  You can watch a practice, meet the coaches, meet other swimmers and even practice with us if you want to. Look for our swim team administrator; there will be a note posted on the notice board or on the administration room door with the administrator’s hours of operation. If the Administrator is not there at the time, the coaches or other parents can answer many of your questions.
• OWA maintains ability-based practice groups. A new swimmer may be asked to swim a lap or two, so that coaches may determine the starting practice group. The group may be changed later, based on the swimmer’s abilities.
• A new swimmer will need to fill in a team tryout form, answering few questions about swimmer’s swimming experience. New swimmers can train for two practices within one calendar week before deciding to join the team.

Please follow the safety and security rules while on the pool:

• Please identify yourself to the coach when you arrive to the pool.
• Please act according to the pool rules while on the deck, in or around the pool. Please obey all coaches' directives and instructions.
  
• While coaches are eager to talk to new swimmers and their parents, their primary concern during the practice is to look after the practicing swimmers. If a coach starts talking to you and does not finish the conversation during the practice, please see her/him after the practice to continue the conversation.
• Please keep the pool and the surrounding area clean.
